I'll try to explain this as simple as I can. My mother has a
first cousin on her father's side that was born on the 29th.
She also has a second cousin on her mother's side that was
born on the on the 29th at the turn of the century (2000). So
I actually have relatives that are related to me, but not to
each other. I think that's pretty cool.

Jacob was born 3 1/2 weeks early. We say it's because he
wanted to be extra special and stay young forever! I always
had a feeling that he would be born in Feb. and I joked saying
with my luck he'll be born on the 29th. He must have heard

son was born this year on a leap day, and now I am scrambling
around trying to figure how I should celebrate this
etc...Personally though I think it is pretty neat, A day that

The first other "Leap Day Babe" I met was my locker partner at
Shadle Park High School in Spokane, WA. His name was Mark.
Then when I was off to college, a gal across the hall from me
in my dorm and a guy I dated were also born on February 29!
The Boise, ID paper came out and took our picture and we made
front page news that year! It is the best day to be
born...you can celebrate on either Feb 28 or March 1 and
people feel sorry for you for not having a birthday, and then
when you do have one, friends you have not heard from for four
years come out of nowhere with cards and well wishes! Of
course sometimes computer programs have problems with the date
and that can be a hassle to resolve. (i.e. my Washington State
drivers license expires February 29,2009!...makes me wonder if
I should ever renew it since there is no such day!) ;-> Now
I live in the Seattle, WA area and have two other
acquaintances born on Feb 29! What fun!

pretty fun cuz its different, and four years later i get to go

4,000+ students ..it was cool to meet another leap year baby

an older third cousin who I don't know the year. All three are
on my mother's side of the family. The only other Leap Day
baby I've met was a classmate in Middle School. We were

Our daughter Olivia was due April 10th, but arrived 6 weeks
early. My husband was hoping for an early arrival on St.
Patty's Day; I was just happy I wasn't due on Leap Year or
Christmas...I guess I never should have said that out loud.
Anyways, Olivia has been a fighter from the beginning.
Apparently, she wanted a very special birthday and came out 5
lbs. healthy and only spent about 1 1/2 weeks in the NICU.
Since then we've abandoned our silly dreams of March or April
birthdays and love the fact that our little squirt has such an
unique and awesome birthday!
